CNTS PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
How CNTS handles personal information, public identity and participant control.
Our approach to privacy
CNTS: Cruisers, Naked, Touring, Sports — is a community platform designed to help riders, future riders, motoring enthusiasts, Partners and community organisations connect through events, projects and CNTS-produced content.
CNTS aims to collect only the personal information reasonably needed to provide the service a person chooses to use, protect the community, operate the platform and meet applicable legal obligations. Where practical, CNTS supports participation through a chosen public identity or pseudonym rather than requiring a legal name.
CNTS is designed with reference to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), including where those principles may not be legally mandatory for every activity of the operator.
Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to personal information handled through CNTS.life, CNTS account and profile systems, Events, Partner functions, Projects, Interaction Score functions, Lids Off and other CNTS-operated services.
Third-party websites and services linked or embedded through CNTS operate under their own privacy practices.
Minimum age
CNTS accounts are available to people aged 16 years and over.
A person does not need to own a motorcycle or hold a motorcycle licence to participate in CNTS. Future riders and other motoring-community participants are welcome, subject to the same account and community rules.
CNTS may apply additional safeguards to activities involving a person under 18, particularly recorded productions, publication of personal stories and other activities that create elevated privacy or safety risks.
Information CNTS may collect
Depending on how a person uses CNTS, CNTS may collect and hold:
Account information: chosen display name, username, email address, account status, authentication and security information.
Profile information: biography, interests, social links, profile image, motorcycle or motoring interests and information a person chooses to make public.
Event information: RSVPs, expressions of interest, attendance, event ownership or administration, event suggestions, check-in or verification records and related moderation records.
Partner information: applications, classifications, public-profile material, application decisions, agreed publication information and Partner activity.
Project information: project membership, role, tasks, contributions, updates and project activity.
Community contributions: questions, nominations, suggestions, submissions, reports and other material a person chooses to provide.
Communications: messages sent to CNTS and records reasonably required to manage support, privacy, complaints or operational requests.
Communications preferences: subscription status, consent evidence, unsubscribe status and delivery-related records.
Lids Off and other production information: chosen Episode identity, contact information needed to coordinate participation, question choices, production notes, consent records, recordings, approved copy, publication material and lifecycle/audit records.
Technical and security information: information reasonably necessary to operate and secure the service, such as relevant login, security, server and diagnostic records.
CNTS will not require a legal name merely because it would be convenient where a chosen public identity or pseudonym is sufficient for the relevant function.
Sensitive information
A person may voluntarily discuss information that can be sensitive, including health, mental-health, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, political opinions or other sensitive matters.
CNTS does not require sensitive information merely to hold an ordinary account or participate in ordinary community functions.
Where CNTS intentionally seeks sensitive information for a specific activity, including a production, CNTS will explain the purpose and seek appropriate consent before collection unless another lawful basis applies.
A person participating in Lids Off remains free not to answer a question or disclose a sensitive matter.
How information is collected
CNTS generally collects information directly from the person concerned through account forms, profile forms, RSVP and event functions, Partner applications, project participation, Lids Off workflows, communications and other CNTS interfaces.
CNTS may also receive information from another person, for example through an event suggestion, nomination or community question. Where information about another identifiable person is not reasonably needed, CNTS may remove, restrict or de-identify it.
CNTS may receive publicly available information when reasonably necessary for a legitimate CNTS function. Public availability does not mean CNTS treats that information as unrestricted for any purpose.
Why CNTS handles personal information
CNTS may collect, hold, use or disclose personal information where reasonably required to:
- create, authenticate and administer accounts
- provide Rider, Partner and Admin functionality
- operate Events, RSVPs, attendance and event administration
- assess and administer Partner applications and profiles
- coordinate projects and participation
- operate Lids Off and other CNTS productions
- moderate content, submissions and community activity
- respond to support, privacy, correction, complaint and safety requests
- maintain platform security, integrity and auditability
- provide transactional communications connected to an activity a person requested or joined
- provide optional promotional communications where the person has opted in
- publish material the person has agreed may be public
- improve the reliability and usability of CNTS using proportionate operational information; and
- meet applicable legal obligations.
Information collected for one purpose is not automatically treated as available for an unrelated purpose.
Public and private information
CNTS distinguishes between information intended for public display and information required only for operation of the platform.
Public information may include a chosen display identity, approved public profile, public Partner information, event listing, event organiser identity, published project material or published Lids Off Episode.
Private or operational information may include account email addresses, private application material, moderation records, security records, unpublished production material and consent records.
CNTS will aim to make the intended audience clear at the point information is submitted.
Anonymity and pseudonymity
Where practical, a person may deal with CNTS anonymously or through a pseudonym.
Some functions require an account or a reliable way to contact the participant. Contactability does not necessarily require CNTS to know or publish a person's legal identity.
For Lids Off, CNTS will not collect a participant's legal name where it is not reasonably required. A participant may use an agreed name, riding identity, creator identity or pseudonym. Private contact information used to coordinate the production does not form part of the public Episode identity unless the participant separately agrees.
Lids Off participant control
Agreeing to be contacted, interviewed or recorded does not by itself authorise publication.
A Lids Off participant must approve publication under the chosen Episode identity before CNTS publishes the Episode.
Participants have ultimate approval over CNTS-controlled written material published about their Episode. After publication, a participant may request modification or removal of CNTS-controlled Episode copy through the available CNTS process. Requested changes are subject to administrative review before becoming public to protect platform integrity, security and lawful operation.
Administrative review will not be used merely to prevent a participant from correcting, restricting or withdrawing their personal material because CNTS would prefer the existing version.
Recorded video or audio is different from editable website copy. After publication, a participant may request withdrawal or removal of CNTS-controlled published media, but CNTS cannot guarantee deletion of copies already obtained, cached, embedded or independently republished by third parties.
Email and communications
CNTS distinguishes between service or transactional communications and optional promotional communications.
Transactional communications may include account/security messages, event administration, Partner application decisions, project activity, Lids Off workflow messages and other communications necessary to provide a function the person requested or joined.
Optional promotional communications are opt-in only. CNTS keeps Rider / Community updates and Partner-specific updates as separate communications choices. Rider accounts are offered the Rider / Community stream; Partner-classified accounts may choose Rider / Community updates, Partner updates, both, or neither.
CNTS asks existing accounts to make these choices once after sign-in where a current choice has not yet been recorded. New Rider registrations are also offered the Rider / Community choice during signup. Creating an account or becoming a Partner does not by itself subscribe a person to optional promotional email.
A person may change or withdraw either optional communications choice at any time using their CNTS Profile or the unsubscribe method provided in the relevant message. CNTS retains enough suppression and consent evidence to respect those choices and avoid accidental resubscription.
Third-party services and overseas handling
CNTS uses third-party services to operate functions such as website hosting, email delivery, security, media hosting or embedding, and other technical services.
CNTS maintains internal records about the service providers used to operate the platform and reviews the information those providers may handle, including likely overseas handling where practicable.
CNTS may embed or link to services such as YouTube. When a person interacts with third-party content, that third party may handle information under its own terms and privacy policy.
CNTS will not claim that all information remains in Australia unless that has been verified.
Security
CNTS uses reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Access to private information should be limited according to role and operational need. Holding an Admin, Partner, Project or production role does not automatically justify access to a participant's private identity or contact information.
Security measures may include access controls, authentication controls, software maintenance, backups, audit records and incident-response procedures appropriate to the service.
CNTS does not publish detailed security configurations that could weaken those protections.
Retention, deletion and de-identification
CNTS does not intend to keep personal information indefinitely merely because storage is available.
Information will be retained for as long as reasonably required for the purpose for which it is held, including legitimate security, moderation, consent, publication, audit or legal needs.
Where personal information is no longer reasonably needed, CNTS will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to technical, backup, legal and legitimate record-keeping requirements.
Specific retention rules are set out in the internal CNTS Data Retention & Access Standard.
Access and correction
A person may ask CNTS for access to personal information CNTS holds about them or request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date personal information.
Requests may be sent to privacy@cnts.life.
CNTS may take reasonable steps to verify that a request relates to the correct person before disclosing private information.
Where a request cannot be fulfilled in full, CNTS will explain the position where appropriate.
Complaints
Privacy questions or complaints may be sent to privacy@cnts.life.
CNTS will acknowledge and review privacy complaints, investigate where appropriate, and aim to provide a substantive response within a reasonable period.
Where applicable, a person may also have rights to raise a privacy complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Automated decisions and Interaction Score
CNTS may use automated calculations for features such as Interaction Score or operational prioritisation.
CNTS will not use an automated score as a hidden substitute for human judgment where a decision could significantly affect a person's rights or interests.
Before 10 December 2026, and whenever automated decision-making functions materially change, CNTS will review whether additional privacy-policy disclosures are required under the Privacy Act.
Changes to this policy
CNTS may update this policy as its services and information-handling practices change.
The current version and effective date will be published on CNTS.life. Material changes affecting an existing consent process will not silently rewrite the meaning of consent already recorded; consent records will retain the policy or consent-text version that applied when consent was given.
